This is the complete duo concert from New York City’s Roulette performance space recorded on October 10, 2006 and presented in original sequence.
It also includes an ipod-ready concert video excerpt and a prize musical cryptic
crossword compiled by the esteemed compiler, Knave . This concert was listed
by All About Jazz/NY as one of 2006’s 10 best of the year. From Andrey
Henkin’s review: “In true egalitarian fashion, both players
introduced motifs and spun lines that were absorbed and echoed by each other,
action and reaction happening with such grace and ease as to become almost inextricable.
The pair improvised five pieces and one encore, the aggregate music totalling
exactly one hour. Due to this brevity, all the presented ideas were fully formed
with no flat linking points and even the brief solo segments acted as vital
connective tissue… so many improvised performances are too long and too
ugly, a brief and beautiful one, full of intent listening, was one to savor.”
You can find a source to purchase the cd at the recordings
page. Then savor it at your leisure and if you are one of the first 5 to finish
the crossword you will be rewarded with a cdr of another Parker/Rothenberg live
recording!

"an ideal partnership" Ben Ratliff, NY Times
"the way each anticipates the others moves is uncanny. It's a cliche,
but the precise entanglement of their lines is nothing less than a tapestry
of sound"
Peter Margasak, Chicago Reader
"A hugely exciting encounter that should utterly floor fellow saxophonists".
